Day 7 - Mungo to Hay

Mungo to Hay takes slightly over 3 hours. Our first stop for the day was Shear Outback Museum in Hay.

We had booked their 1PM Shearing Demonstration so we started from Mungo around 9AM after breakfast. Entry to the shearing demonstration will need to be pre-booked so contact them via their website a few days before your travel. We had our lunch in their cafe followed by the shearing demonstration @ 1PM in the Murray Down Shearing Shed.

After the demonstration, we spent some time in their museum and the gift shop for souvenirs. We then headed to our hotel Cobb Inlander Motel. After checking into the hotel and a short rest, we headed to Bidgee Riverside Trail for a stroll along Murrumbidgee River.

It was then time for us to head to the sunset viewpoint on Cobb Highway to view the sunset over the vast Hay Plains.

I should say, the sunset was epic with the full spectrum of colours that you can enjoy all while relaxing on the sculptural furniture setup. With no crowd to distract, have this sunset area for yourself and immerse in the spectacular natural beauty for as long as you'd like to!
We then headed back to our hotel for a good night's sleep.
Day 8 - Hay to Wagga Wagga
Hay to Wagga Wagga takes slightly less than 3 hours. After breakfast, our first stop was The Big Guitar in Narrandera Visitor Information Centre.

After spending some time in the visitor centre with everyone taking loads of photographs with The Big Guitar and then some shopping for souvenirs, we headed to Wagga Wagga Visitor Information Centre, followed by a visit to Wagga Wagga Art Gallery - National Art Glass Gallery.
After spending some time in the art gallery, we headed to Marrambidya Wetland.

We walked the wetland walking trail, which was roughly a 2km Grade 2 walk that took around 40 minutes. The walk beside Murrumbidgee River was beautiful! This walking trail is not to be confused with the Wiradjuri Walking Track, which is approximately a 40km track that loops around the city and passes through Marrambidya Wetland.

We then checked into our hotel Australian Homestead Motor Lodge. After a short rest break, we headed to Wagga Wagga for dinner, roamed around the town and went back to our hotel.
Note: If you have got some more time in the region, visit Riverside: Wagga Beach (or simply, Wagga Beach), a sandy strip by the Murrumbidgee River that is just five minutes from the city's CBD. Visitors are often surprised to hear that Wagga Wagga has a beach, given the city is around 450km inland from the Australian coastline.
Day 9 - Wagga Wagga to Sydney
Welcome to the last day of this awesome trip and we will be on the road for slightly over 5 hours! Our first stop was Bidgee Strawberries and Cream for some strawberry picking. Booking is essential and all required information for your visit can be found on their website. On the day of our visit, strawberry picking was cancelled due to bad weather, unfortunately. However, we still visited them as we had heard great reviews about their strawberry ice cream and their strawberry jam and that turned out to be absolutely true! The ice cream and jam were so delicious as were the Chocolate Coated Strawberries. A must-try if you're in the town!

It was then time to leave back for Sydney and on our way, we stopped at The Big Merino in Goulburn. The Big Merino was built in 1985 and is a monument to Goulburn and the surrounding district’s fine wool industry. It is 15.2 meters high, and 18 meters long and weighs around 100 tonnes! It houses a gift shop and an exhibition from Australian Wool Innovation depicting the 200-year history of wool in Australia. Make sure to climb up to the top via the staircase (accessible from inside the gift shop) for a spectacular view of Goulburn through Rambo's eyes!

We then came down to the gift shop to buy some nice souvenirs and gifts and headed back to Sydney. Welcome back home!
